Direct Employ Service Provides Peace of Mind for Naomi

When Naomi Sirianni and her husband Daniel first found out about Carer Solutions and their Direct Employ service, they knew immediately that this was the service needed.

Naomi and Daniel have two beautiful boys, Archer, 10 and Luca, 11. Archer has coffin-siris syndrome, which is a rare genetic syndrome. He also has multiple disorders that fall under that syndrome including partial Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum, nystagmus, hypotonia, epilepsy, asthma and global development delay.

Being able to find support workers that Archer knew and trusted, was paramount for them. Once they understood how they could directly employ their own support workers from their trusted network, they didn’t hesitate in approaching one of Archer’s past teachers, Anouk from his school.

Naomi says it was fantastic being able to bring in their own support workers as it “takes away the stress of having a stranger look after your child or a stranger coming into your house,”

“Having someone that knows Archer, and knows our family is bliss.”

Anouk, or ‘Nookie’ as she is fondly referred to by the Sirianni family, has definitely become part of the family now.

“The bond that the two of them (Archer and Nookie) share is incredible, and anyone can see it. I feel a sense of ease knowing that he’s in safe hands and that for a non-verbal child, he can get his message across.” she says.

Naomi explains that she has no cause for worry or confusion, wondering if she has communicated everything about Archer to his support workers.

“Nookie is a support worker that we know, that knows us, and that knows him (Archer) and knows how he works inside and out.” Naomi says she and Daniel can go to work, take Luca to his activities, and do what they need to do with total peace of mind that Archer is in good hands.

Naomi says she has added peace of mind knowing that while she is the employer, Carer Solutions is taking care of all the tricky back office stuff, including all employer financial obligations.

Watching Nookie and Archer together, you can see that special bond that Naomi mentioned. Seeing his little face light up when Nookie comes to the door says it all.

“I probably think he likes her more than me,” Naomi laughs.
