Amanda’s perfect Support Worker was closer than she thought
After being let down countless times by Support Worker agencies, Amanda was in search of a better, more sustainable solution for her two children, Alex and Erica.

“As soon as she walked across the room, I thought to myself ‘this one’s a winner,’” Deb laughs.
Isabella is 22 and lives in Penguin, Tasmania with her grandmother. She was born with Williams syndrome, which is a genetic condition that is characterised by developmental delays and learning challenges.
Having Janet as her Support Worker means Isabella can be supported by her to work towards her goals of greater independence and managing her anxiety.
“She’s like a big sister to me and she makes me feel happy and she helps me with all of my anxiety, and all the other stuff I have problems with,” Isabella explains.
Deb first connected with Janet through another Support Worker provider, but she was dissatisfied with the provider. Janet suggested Deb take a look at Carer Solutions, and straight away Deb realised that this was the solution she had been looking for.
Through Carer Solutions and their Direct Employ service, Deb was able to directly employ Janet as Isabella’s Support Worker. It gave her the flexibility to schedule Janet and Isabella’s other Support Workers when she needs them, and to negotiate a pay rate that works for them both.
Janet also loves the flexibility that Carer Solutions provides, and is currently employed by two Carer Solutions Partners (clients)
“I would say Carer Solutions is the kind of organisation that you are best to deal with if you really want to have some choice over your hours. You get to work with the family [you want to work for] and Carer Solutions supports you to make that happen.”
Janet has seen so many improvements in Isabella since becoming her Support Worker over seven years ago and is looking forward to watch her grow in her confidence and independence in the years to come.
