Amanda’s perfect Support Worker was closer than she thought
After being let down countless times by Support Worker agencies, Amanda was in search of a better, more sustainable solution for her two children, Alex and Erica.
Read moreWhen mum of two, Louise, first started looking for a Support Worker for her son Ethan, she knew she needed to find someone who was reliable and trustworthy.
Louise lives in Ballarat with her two sons, Ethan and Alex. Her eldest, Ethan has level three autism, is nonverbal and has ADHD and an intellectual disability.
Louise was chatting to a friend at work about her search for a Support Worker, and her friend suggested that Georgia, a teacher who worked at Ethan’s specialist school, might be a good fit for her family.
“So we caught up and I knew straight away that Georgia would be perfect for Ethan. Because she works at his school. she can just take him home at the end of the day when she finishes, it just so easy,” Louise explains.
Georgia says it is so simple to be directly employed by Louise, with Carer Solutions taking care of all the employer admin, payroll and insurances.
“I get to just do a shift with Ethan and Louise, fill out my timesheet, send it off to Carers [Solutions] and they then handle all the payroll, all the tax invoices and rates. I don’t have to worry about any of that, I can just focus on my work with Ethan and not the money side of it which is so helpful,” she says.
Georgia has so many friends who are Support Workers for agencies and other companies, but she says they don’t have the same passion for their job because they get put on shifts with people they don’t get along with. They are also moved frequently from client to client, unable to establish a rapport with them.
Thankfully, Georgia’s experience has been the opposite to her friends. She supports three other Carer Solutions Partners, and she loves how easy it is to deal directly with Louise and her other employers.
Louise says she also loves how streamlined Carer Solution Direct Employ model is.
“It’s so easy, I can just pick the times that I want Georgia to come, and I barely have to deal with the middleman, I just do it all myself.”
Louise says being able to employ someone she trusts and who Ethan loves, means that Ethan’s made significant gains and improvements since having Georgia as his Support Worker.
“He’s been able to access the community more and ride his bike, and he’s just happy to go with her all the time,” she explains.
Louise urges other families to consider Carer Solutions as it makes life easier for you, “so you just can focus on the important things”.
